The San Francisco 49ers were the first team to meet with former Boston College edge defender and NFL hopeful Harold Landry at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

"They were the first team I met with here," Landry told reporters. "I thought [the meeting] went well. I thought it went really well."

After meeting with the 49ers coaches, Landry says he would love to play for San Francisco.

"I would definitely love to play for the 49ers," he continued. "Meeting with their coaches -- great coaches, great guys, and I'd be honored to go to San Fran and play for them."

Landry became a full-time starter for the Eagles during the last nine games of his sophomore season in 2015. The next year, he finished in the top five nationally with 22 tackles for a loss and registered 50 combined tackles, 16.5 sacks, an interception, four passes defensed, and seven forced fumbles, per Sports Reference. Landry was named first-team All-ACC after starting 12 of 13 game appearances in 2016.

Landry passed on declaring himself eligible for the 2017 NFL Draft and returned for his senior year at Boston College. He appeared in just nine games last year due to an ankle injury but still registered 38 total tackles, 8.5 for a loss, five sacks, and two passes defensed.

"I had five sacks in six games, and in the sixth game of the year my ankle got messed up," Landry said. "I tried playing through it against Louisville the next week, played through it. Then the next week against Virginia on the first play of the game I rolled it again, and they shut me down."

Landry has no doubts about his ability heading into the NFL. He was asked who the best pass rusher is in the draft this year.

"I am," Landry answered. "I think that nobody in this class has a first step like mine, the bend like mine and the burst to the quarterback like me. I am not saying I am perfect, there are plenty of things I can improve on in my game, but in this draft, I do believe I am the best pass rusher."

NFL.com projects that Landry will be selected in round 1 of the NFL Draft.

Lance Zierlein of NFL Media, who compares Landry to Bruce Irvin, had the following to say in his scouting report:

"Landry lacks premium size, but his burst, stride length and ability to dip and rip around the edge give him special potential as an edge rusher. Landry lacks strength at the point of attack and may be a designated pass rusher early in his career. While he can play standing for 3-4 teams, he's at his best with his hand in the dirt as a rusher. Landry can get by as an NFL rusher with just speed and athleticism, but he has an opportunity to become a Pro Bowler if he can improve his hand usage and develop an inside counter."
