Ian Rapoport of NFL Network is reporting that Davis is signing a one-year deal with Buffalo on Monday night.
"When healthy, he has shown that he can be one of the top corners in the league and that is what the Bills hope they are getting," said Rapoport.
The 49ers' cornerback position is in need of an upgrade this offseason. Last year's starters were Ahkello Witherspoon and Dontae Johnson. 2017 was Witherspoon's rookie season while Johnson, whose play was erratic, is scheduled to hit free agency.
The Colts released Davis, who is the younger brother of former 49ers and current Washington Redskins tight end, Vernon Davis, in November after he opted to have season-ending surgery. Davis suffered a groin injury during a preseason matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers, which caused him to miss the first three weeks of the 2017 season.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reported on February 12 that Davis was cleared from his core injury surgery, which was performed on November 8, 2017. That's when teams like the Bills, 49ers, Oakland Raiders, Cleveland Browns, and Miami Dolphins came calling. He visited with each of those teams.
Davis, who is a two-time Pro Bowl selection (2014, 2015), was the 25th-overall pick by the Dolphins in 2009. He played collegiate football at Illinois. Davis spent his first three NFL seasons with Miami before being traded to Indianapolis prior to the start of the 2012 season.
Davis has played in 120 career games (112 starts) through nine NFL seasons with the Colts and Miami. During that span, he has registered 395 combined tackles, 22 interceptions with one returned for a touchdown, 97 passes defensed, and three forced fumbles.
