"Other teams interested too," Davis told Anderson.
What is his timetable for a decision? The Pro Bowl cornerback, who is the younger brother of former 49ers tight end Vernon Davis, expects to decide on a team before free agency begins on March 14, according to Anderson.
Until then, teams that promised Davis a contract, which doesn't necessarily include the 49ers, will have to wait.
San Francisco could use help at cornerback. Last year, defensive coordinator Robert Saleh's unit finished the season with rookie Ahkello Witherspoon and veteran Dontae Johnson as its starters. Johnson had an up and down season and is scheduled to hit free agency.
Davis' season came to an early end after the cornerback opted to have season-ending surgery after suffering a groin injury in preseason. The Colts released him in November. Adam Schefter of ESPN reported on February 12 that Davis was declared healthy.
Davis, who played college football at Illinois, was the 25th-overall pick by the Miami Dolphins in 2009. He spent his first three NFL seasons with Miami before being traded to the Colts in 2012.
Davis has played in 120 career games (112 starts) through nine NFL seasons with the Colts and Miami. During that span, he has registered 395 combined tackles, 22 interceptions with one returned for a touchdown, 97 passes defensed, and three forced fumbles.
