The San Francisco 49ers ended the 2017 season with a 34-13 victory over the NFC West champion Los Angeles Rams at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. It was the 49ers' sixth win of the season and the fifth-straight victory.

The 49ers improved to 6-10 while the Rams dropped to 11-5.

With the win, Jimmy Garoppolo becomes the third 49ers quarterback since the merger in 1970 to win each of his first three road starts. Elvis Grbac won each of his first four road starts from 1995 through 1996 and Jim Plunkett won his first three starts on the road in 1976.

Dating back to 2016, Garoppolo has now won each of his first seven starts in the NFL. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Garoppolo is one of five quarterbacks to win their first seven NFL starts since the merger in 1970.

Garoppolo was 10-of-13 for 144 yards, a touchdown, and a 138.0 passer rating when blitzed by the Rams.

Wide receiver Marquise Goodwin finished the season with career highs in games started (16), receptions (56) and receiving yards (962).

Running back Carlos Hyde finished the game with 15 carries for 90 yards and two touchdowns, scoring from eight and five yards out. It marked the third time this season Hyde rushed for two-or-more touchdowns in a game and the sixth time in his career.

Hyde registered a single-season career-high eight rushing touchdowns.

46 of running back Matt Breida's 72 rushing yards came after contact.

George Kittle is the first 49ers tight end to have 100-or-more receiving yards (four receptions for 100 yards) in a game since October 13, 2013, when Vernon Davis had eight receptions for 180 yards and two touchdowns against the Arizona Cardinals.


Defensive tackle Sheldon Day brought down quarterback Sean Mannion for a nine-yard loss, marking his first sack as a member of the 49ers and the third of his career.

With his sack of Mannion, defensive end Elvis Dumervil joined John Abraham as the only players to register at least half a sack against all 32 teams in the NFL. He finished the season with a team-high 6.5 sacks and has 105.5 for his career.

Defensive end Cassius Marsh registered a strip-sack of Mannion, with the fumble recovered by defensive tackle Solomon Thomas. It marked the third forced fumble of the season for Marsh, the fourth of his career, and the third sack of the season and sixth of his career. The fumble recovery for Thomas was the first of his career.

Marsh also had a quarterback hit and a hurry in 26 pass rush attempts.

The 49ers defense was in nickel or dime the entire game, and linebacker Eli Harold played a season-low six snaps.


Cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon forced a fumble by Rams tight end Gerald Everett, marking the first forced fumble of his career. Cornerback K'Waun Williams recovered the football for his third career fumble recovery. Williams allowed just two catches on five targets for -1 yard.

Safety Eric Reid had a team-high four stops and allowed just 21 yards in coverage on eight targets.

Kicker Robbie Gould finished the season with a career-high 39 made field goals, which led the NFL. He joins kicker David Akers (44 in 2011) as the only players in franchise history to lead the NFL in made field goals and is tied for third-most in a single season in NFL history (Akers - 44 in 2011, Neil Rackers - 40 in 2005, Olindo Mare - 39 in 1999, Jeff Wilkins - 39 in 2003).

The 49ers blitzed Rams quarterback Sean Mannion on just three of his 37 dropbacks.

Key Team Statistics


The 49ers offense registered 463 total net yards against the Rams, reaching 369-or-more yards for the fifth consecutive game. It marked the first time since Weeks 11 to 17 of the 1998 season that the team registered 369-or-more yards in at least five-straight games.


San Francisco is the only team in the NFL to go undefeated this season in the month of December.

San Francisco has now won three consecutive road games for the first time since 2013 (Weeks 12, 15, 17).

The 49ers' six wins are the most by a team in NFL history that started the season 0-9, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan became the fourth rookie NFL head coach in franchise history (Buck Shaw - 1950, Frankie Albert - 1956, George Seifert - 1989) and the first in the NFL since Tony Sparano in 2008, to go undefeated in the month of December.
