This week's award is Gould's third time receiving the honor and his second this season. He was named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week following the 49ers' win over the Chicago Bears on December 3.
Before that, Gould earned the same honor during Week 9 of his rookie 2005 season with Chicago. He was also named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Month for December of 2008 and was the Bears' Ed Block Courage Award recipient in 2015.
Gould earns his latest honor following the 49ers 25-23 victory over the Tennessee Titans this past Sunday.
Gould connected on a single-game career-high six field goals against the Titans, including the game-winning 45-yarder as time expired. His six made field goals tied the franchise record for most made in a single game (Ray Wersching – 10/16/83 at Saints, Jeff Wilkins – 9/29/96 vs. Falcons).
Gould has now made 20 consecutive field goals, which dates back to October 29. The streak is the second-longest streak in 49ers franchise history (Phil Dawson – 27 straight in 2013).
Gould has made each of his four field goal attempts this season from 50-or-more yards. He hit one from 50 in the third quarter against Tennessee.
