As things stand now, the Vegas oddsmakers have the Bears listed as anywhere from 3.5- to 4.5-point favorites over the visiting 49ers, according to various casinos and betting sites. But that could change as the game draws near. The over/under for Sunday's game is listed at 40 points.
With the 49ers trailing 24-6, Beathard sustained a knee contusion and hip strain late in the fourth quarter against Seattle. Garoppolo entered with 67 seconds remaining in the game and completed both of his passes for 18 yards and a touchdown to wide receiver Louis Murphy in the closing seconds.
If Beathard is unable to receive the majority of the practice reps this week, head coach Kyle Shanahan will likely go with Garoppolo against Chicago.
"I'll probably have an answer for you guys on Wednesday," he said on Monday when questioned about his starting quarterback. "I'd like to talk to the staff. I'd like to watch some Chicago (film) first, finish up Seattle. I just finished up watching the game with the quarterbacks and then came in here. I'll have a decision for you guys by Wednesday."
The 49ers have won three of their last five games against Chicago and have split the last two at Soldier Field.
The 49ers and Bears kick off at 10:00 a.m. PT/12:00 p.m. CT on Sunday.
