Hunt (6-4, 265) originally signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted rookie free agent on May 11. Denver waived him on September 2.
Hunt played college football at the University of Oregon. He appeared in 52 games and started 43 during his four years along Oregon's offensive line. As a senior in 2016, Hunt started all 12 games at right guard after appearing in 12 games and starting 10 as a junior. In 2014, he saw action in 15 games, starting all but one and helping Oregon reach the College Football Playoff National Championship. In 2013, Hunt became the Ducks' first true freshman in 16 years to start a game on the offensive line.
Hunt takes the spot left vacant by offensive lineman JP Flynn, whom the 49ers placed on injured reserve on Monday. Flynn suffered a patellar tendon injury in his knee during a practice last week and is expected to miss six to nine months, according to NBC Sports Bay Area.
