"Yes, he did get through the week," Shanahan said when asked if the team plans to activate the second-year player. "We plan to make that final whatever the deadline is. Most likely this afternoon or sometime early tomorrow."
In September, Ronald Blair was placed on injured reserve with a designation to return (short-term IR) due to a thumb injury he suffered during the preseason. He returned to practice with the team during the week of October 16, which made him first eligible this week to play in a game.
Failing to activate him before the Cardinals game would revert Blair back to injured reserve for the remainder of the season.
Blair, 24, was a fifth-round draft pick out of Appalachian State by the 49ers in 2016. He appeared in all 16 games for the team last season while recording 11 tackles and three sacks.
