While Allbright has been reliable in the past, it is unknown if the 49ers fielded calls and nothing came of them or if trading Hyde is something the team is still pursuing. As of this posting, no other sources have confirmed the report.
Hyde is in his fourth season with the 49ers and the final year of his rookie contract. Along with Bowman, he was the other starter who received reduced playing time during last Sunday's overtime loss to the Indianapolis Colts. Hyde was replaced by rookie Matt Breida.
Against the Colts, Hyde had just eight carries for 11 yards but had 16 yards after contact. That means the running back was often engaged by defenders behind the line of scrimmage. Hyde also had a single reception for seven yards. Breida saw more success gaining 49 yards on 10 carries as well as three receptions for 22 yards.
"I plan on going with Carlos early and I plan on spelling him with Breida regardless, whether he is doing good or bad," 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters on Monday. "Or even when he is doing good ... we ended up just going with the hot hand. We felt like Breida was going better at the time. I think they ended up, I think it was like 35 plays to 33 plays, so it was pretty even. That's how it played out in that game. But, I think it'll be a different story each week."
This season, Hyde has carried the football 73 times for 332 yards and two touchdowns. He also has 18 receptions for 95 yards. Both of Hyde's touchdowns came during a Thursday night Week 3 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
