"We've had him in a blue jersey so he's had no contact all week," 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan said during a KNBR interview Friday morning. "I think he's got to pass his contact test today and then he'll be good to go."
Following Friday's practice, Shanahan gave another update on Goodwin's progress, indicating that the receiver is likely to play on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts. Goodwin was listed as questionable on the team's Friday injury report.

"He's been good," Shanahan said. "He's gone all week so I'd be surprised if he wasn't ready to go on Sunday."
Like Goodwin, running back Matt Breida was also in a no-contact blue jersey this week but not because of a concussion. He was dealing with an ankle injury.
"We kept a blue jersey on him all week just to keep the contact off of him," Shanahan said. "You never know, dealing with an ankle. But he had it taped up well and made it through the week and I expect it not to be a problem on Sunday."
Shanahan also offered some clarification on what he said during Friday morning's KNBR interview when the 49ers head coach gave the impression that rookie linebacker Reuben Foster might be able to play in next weekend's game against the Washington Redskins. Shanahan was asked if that timeline was realistic.
"I don't know if the game is," Shanahan said on Friday afternoon. "I think our goal is to, realistically, try to get him out to practice on Wednesday and then we're going to kind of play it from there. Same thing with [Eric] Reid. They're both kind of in the same boat. They definitely weren't ready to practice this week. We're anticipating they'll be ready to go on Wednesday. Then it will be a day-to-day thing to see if they have a chance in that game."
