Running back Carlos Hyde has been limited during practices this week with a hip injury. He played through the injury on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals, carrying the football 16 times for 68 yards and catching five passes for 27 yards.
"Carlos has been good," Shanahan said. "He's practiced all week. I know he's been limited but he's been out there. Just like last week, he was limited all last week and was able to play on Sunday. Hopefully, he'll be more healthy this week and continue to get fresher but I fully expect Carlos to go."
Wide receiver Marquise Goodwin suffered a concussion against the Cardinals and has been in the concussion protocol this week, which limits what he can do in practice until he has been cleared by the medical staff.
"We've had him in a blue jersey so he's had no contact all week," Shanahan said. "I think he's got to pass his contact test today and then he'll be good to go. You never know exactly how that's going to go but it's been very positive all week so I'm pretty optimistic about it. It would be nice to have him out there. We had a big plan for him last week with some of the matchups and losing him early was tough. All the signs have been good this week and, hopefully, it continues to be that for Sunday."
Rookie linebacker Reuben Foster and safety Eric Reid continued to sit out practice this week as they recover from their own more serious injuries. Neither will play on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts. Foster is still recovering from a high-ankle sprain he suffered during Week 1 against the Carolina Panthers. Reid is recovering from a PCL injury he suffered during Week 2 against the Seattle Seahawks.
Shanahan said the 49ers will hold Foster out for another week, which will make him unavailable for Sunday's game.
"He hasn't practiced with us yet," Shanahan said. "We're going to hopefully get him back to practice next week. Hopefully him and Eric. It's not for sure but our goal is next Wednesday to get him out there and see how it goes. I think they'll have a chance for next week (against the Washington Redskins)."
