On Wednesday night, San Francisco 49ers running back Carlos Hyde celebrated his birthday with family. On Thursday night, he hopes to celebrate in the Levi's Stadium end zone. Through 21 possessions over the course of two games, the 49ers offense has failed to score a touchdown and has had little reason to celebrate at all. It ranks last in the NFL in total offense and 31st in both passing yards and scoring.

Starting quarterback Brian Hoyer managed just 99 yards passing against the Seattle Seahawks during the 49ers' 12-9 road loss on Sunday. The 49ers' scoring drought is a trend that Hyde would like to see end and he believes that it will on Thursday night against the Los Angeles Rams.


The 49ers running back joined "The Damon Bruce Show" on 95.7 The Game Wednesday and shared his prediction for Thursday night.

"We're going to get it Thursday," Hyde said. "It's been very frustrating going two games so far without a touchdown but I think Thursday's going to be the day we flip that switch and we start putting points on the board. I also feel like that's going to be the time that we click. What I mean by that is the offense. Passing game, running game, everything is clicking and really showcasing what we're capable of."

Hyde played well against the Seahawks on Sunday. He averaged 8.3 yards per carry on his way to a 124-yard game on the ground. However, none of that led to a scoring drive and Hyde won't underestimate Los Angeles' 30th-ranked run defense. The Rams gave up 229 rushing yards to the Washington Redskins, who had two running backs eclipse 70 yards on the ground and another rush for 67.

"The Rams are a pretty good defense," Hyde said. "They always play us hard. Even if they gave up a lot of yards last week, they're going to come to play against us. It's a divisional opponent. I don't expect anything to be easy. So as an offense, we've got to really come out.

"We've got to really pay attention to details this week and really execute the game plan. Like I said, we definitely need to get the passing game going too, though. Get the running game established and get the passing game going and things will be good for us."


The 49ers and Rams kick off their division matchup on Thursday night at 5:25 p.m. PT.
