Jackson, 27, was a fifth-round draft pick out of Cal Poly by the Baltimore Ravens in 2012. He was released by Baltimore in September of 2015. The Ravens re-signed Jackson to their practice squad and he was added to the active roster in October of 2015. Following an ankle injury, Jackson was waived by Baltimore a month later.
Jackson bounced between the Cincinnati Bengals and Arizona Cardinals before, once again, landing with Baltimore in October of 2016, where he spent time between the practice squad and the active roster.
In December of 2016, Jackson was signed by the Detroit Lions off of Baltimore's practice squad and then later placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury.
Over his five-year career, Jackson has 37 combined tackles, eight assists, and four passes defensed, according to NFL.com. He has eight career starts – six with Baltimore and two from last season with Detroit.
Franklin was originally signed by the 49ers as an undrafted rookie free agent on May 4.
