Lattimore has played in 19 games over the past two years with the Buckeyes. During that time, he has 46 tackles, four interceptions, and 12 passes defended. Lattimore is considered by most draft analysts to be the top cornerback available in the draft.
The 49ers currently own the second overall selection in the 2017 NFL Draft, which kicks off on April 27 from Philadelphia.
The knock on Lattimore has been his history with hamstring injuries. He redshirted his first year at Ohio State in 2014 and played in only seven games his redshirt freshman year in 2015, due to hamstring injuries. Lattimore was named First Team All-Big Ten in 2016.
Lance Zierlein of NFL Media, who compares Lattimore to Vontae Davis, had the following to say in his scouting report:
"Average-sized, one-year starter with explosive athleticism and a loaded tool box. He has the feet, hips and agility to be a lockdown cornerback and the ball skills to make teams pay for looking in his direction. His lack of experience could show up early, but he has the confidence and competitive nature that should help him overcome those issues. He has the ability to become a Pro Bowl cornerback early in his career."
