"I thought it was impressive," Lynch said of Garrett's pro day performance. "Here's this kid, doesn't really need to show everyone much more but yet he shows up and runs a 40. I think it just speaks to the kind of kid he is. It was impressive and it's well documented -- I'm not saying anything groundbreaking -- he's a special athlete."
"He checks all the boxes," Lynch continued. "That's why people are talking about him the way they are."
The 49ers currently own the second overall selection in the draft. If they wanted Garrett, they would have to hope that the Browns select someone else.
Garrett ran an unofficial 4.56 40-yard dash during the pro day on Thursday, which beat his 4.64 official time at the NFL Scouting Combine. Although, NFL Network reported it as a 4.61 time at the pro day.
The former Aggie is reportedly scheduled to visit with the 49ers prior to the draft. The 49ers are permitted to host up to 30 players for visits at the team's headquarters in Santa Clara, California. Visitors to the team's headquarters are not allowed to work out for the team unless they are local prospects.
In three years at Texas A&M, Garrett had 141 tackles, 47 of which were for a loss, 31 sacks, an interception, five passes defended, and seven forced fumbles, per Sports-reference.com.
