The 49ers will have another opportunity to take an even closer look at Trubisky. According to Andrew Carter of the Charlotte Observer, the 49ers are among several teams with which Trubisky will have an individual workout.
The 49ers currently own the second overall selection in the upcoming draft and do not have another selection until the 34th overall pick. If the 49ers were genuinely interested in drafting a highly touted quarterback, they would likely have their pick at the number two spot with the Cleveland Browns widely expected to select defensive end Myles Garrett out of Texas A&M.
The biggest knock on the 6-foot-2 Trubisky is his experience. He has only spent one season as a starter for the Tar Heels. However, during that 2016 season, he completed 68.2-percent of his passes for 3,748 yards, 30 touchdowns, and six interceptions.
"He grows on you," Lynch said of Trubisky at the NFL Scouting Combine. "The more you watch him, the more you like him."
The 49ers are making their rounds with the top quarterbacks in this year's draft class this week. They will have a semi-private workout with Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson and head over to South Bend on Thursday for Notre Dame's pro day to watch quarterback DeShone Kizer. The 49ers will be joined by one other team for their workout with Watson.
Earlier in the month, the 49ers met with Trubisky, Watson, and Kizer at the NFL Scouting Combine. Since then, the team has signed two free agent quarterbacks. Former Chicago Bears quarterbacks Brian Hoyer and Matt Barkley signed with the team to kick off free agency.
