"What the 49ers wanted to do, not another half measure," Rapoport said. "They wanted to fully clean house. Jed York, the owner, said it. MMQB this morning, 'A full reset button' and the reason why – they want to get everyone on the same page.
"So the 49ers have a general manager opening. They have a head coach opening. My understanding, they want to get someone to work in tandem, maybe even hiring a pair together or a coach and GM that have a previous relationship to make sure there's nothing misconstrued, there's no arguments over the roster, make sure everyone sees it the right way, to try to return this once proud organization to prominence.
"That's something Jed York wants badly and something he's spending millions of dollars in former coaches salaries to get."
