The San Francisco 49ers went into Saturday positioned to have the number two overall pick. A 49ers loss this afternoon in Los Angeles to the hometown Rams would lift San Francisco into the top spot with just one game left to play. The 49ers and Browns would both be 1-14, but the former has a weaker strength of schedule, which would break the tie.
A 49ers win would keep them at the number two spot with their last chance to leap the Browns coming next week. The Seattle Seahawks would need to beat the 49ers and the Browns would need to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Chicago Bears, who lost to the Washington Redskins today, will leap the Jacksonville Jaguars, who beat the Tennessee Titans, for the number three spot.
The Rams are 4.5-point favorites against the 49ers today and kickoff at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum is at 1:25 p.m. PT.
