LB Gerald Hodges inactive against Falcons for violating team rules

One surprise name on the San Francisco 49ers' list of inactive players against the Atlanta Falcons was LB Gerald Hodges. Shortly after the list was revealed, the team announced that Hodges was inactive due to a violation of team rules.


The 49ers did not provide any details beyond that.

The move leaves the 49ers just two inside linebackers – Michael Wilhoite, who will start in place of Hodges, and Nick Bellore. Hodges had started the past seven games for the 49ers.

QB Blaine Gabbert was also on the team's list of inactive players against the Falcons. Christian Ponder will be active for the first time this season and will serve as the backup for Colin Kaepernick.
