Blaine Gabbert, who started for the San Francisco 49ers during their first five games but was eventually benched himself, took over at quarterback in Chicago.
The 49ers were 1-point favorites at kickoff and were favored by as much as 2.5 points this week. Since Week 9, following the 49ers' bye week, Kaepernick has thrown for 1,110 yards with eight touchdowns and only two interceptions. It was reported earlier this morning that Kaepernick will test free agency in March and void the remainder of his contract.
During his first five starts, Gabbert completed 58 percent of his passes for 890 yards, five touchdowns, and two interceptions.
