Ball will wear number 46.
Skov did not make the original 53-man roster but was promoted from the practice squad to the active roster on September 21 following LB Ray-Ray Armstrong being placed on the Injured Reserve list.
"Shayne was actually a difficult cut to cut it to 53 because I thought he did enough to make the team," 49ers head coach Chip Kelly explained in September. "Obviously, we felt like we had six inside linebackers that were NFL quality players so that was a difficult day for Shayne and for us."
Skov has appeared in nine games this season. During those games, he has two tackles on defense along with eight tackles on special teams. In 2015 with San Francisco, he appeared in 15 games and registered four tackles on special teams.
Ball originally signed to the team's practice squad on November 22. He entered the NFL by signing as an undrafted free agent with the New Orleans Saints in 2014. He appeared in 12 games – starting two – during his rookie season and had 12 tackles on defense and nine special teams tackles. This season with the Carolina Panthers, Ball appeared in one game and spent time on their practice squad before being released October 11. He also spent a very brief time on the practice squad of the Jacksonville Jaguars before signing with the 49ers.
McManis spent training camp with the 49ers after being signed on May 2. He was released on August 27.
