Earlier this week, head coach Chip Kelly said that he was unsure if Hyde would be available for today's game. He stated that the decision to play Hyde was completely up to the team's medical staff and not him.
Hyde had practiced with the team all week, but was in a blue non-contact jersey for each practice. On Friday, he was listed as Questionable on the team's official injury report.
The injury occurred during the third quarter of the 49ers' October 16 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Mike Davis replaced Hyde while the 49ers' starting running back was on the sideline. The 49ers promoted RB DuJuan Harris from the practice squad for their October 23 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He rushed for 39 yards on 11 carries in that game.
Harris will start for the 49ers against the Saints, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Media.
Hyde has 429 yards on 109 carries and six touchdowns so far this season. He has averaged 3.9 yards per carry.
