The San Francisco 49ers held a massive party following their heartbreaking defeat in Super Bowl LIV. It was described as an "all-out rager" by TMZ Sports and featured Lil Wayne and DaBaby, who reportedly earned six-figures each for the performance.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan, as you probably know, is a big fan of Lil Wayne.


The party received mixed reactions from fans because the team had just suffered a fourth-quarter collapse against the Kansas City Chiefs and was partying as if it had won the big game.

But everything was probably already paid for and non-refundable, so why not?

Tight end George Kittle on Thursday was asked about the post-Super Bowl bash. He thanked the reporter for taking him back to the Super Bowl defeat and then discussed the party.

"Obviously, it sucks (to lose the Super Bowl)," Kittle said, "but at the same time, we did have a fantastic season. It obviously just didn't end the way we wanted it to end. But we did get to celebrate the whole season we had. We had 13 wins, we had home-field advantage, dominated the first rounds of the playoffs that we played in. So yeah, we celebrated that."

Not everyone was up for the party, though. Some players stayed away. Still, it was one last opportunity for the tight-knit group to be together that season. Little did the players know, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it would be their last time together until training camp.


Lil Wayne told Skip Bayless of FS1's Undisputed that he repeatedly stopped the show to half-jokingly make sure the 49ers wanted him to keep performing. They were, after all, coming off a devastating loss.

"The 49ers clearly had a let's-not-worry-too-much-about-it attitude about the game," said Bayless. "(Wrote Lil Wayne:) 'They truly believe they'll be back next year. The confidence, it was scary.'"

Kittle acknowledged that the party certainly would have been a lot more fun had the 49ers just emerged as Super Bowl champions.

"Was it as fun as it could have been? No, but I still enjoyed the hell out of it," Kittle added. "I got to meet Lil Wayne. That was on my bucket list. Now I have a selfie with Lil Wayne. I'll post that at some point in my life. I'm really looking forward to that.

"I had a good time with my teammates. I know not everyone showed up, but it was really fun to get up there and let it all loose and move on, honestly."
