Oden has 16 years of NFL coaching experience, having spent time in various roles with the Houston Texans, New Orleans Saints, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Detroit Lions before serving as the Dolphins' defensive backs coach the past two seasons.
Oden was part of the Saints' Super Bowl XLIV championship team during the 2009 season and has been working with defensive backs since 2006.
Barrows notes that Oden worked alongside current 49ers defensive line coach Kris Kocurek during his time in Miami and Detroit.

The 49ers are also reportedly interested in former Dallas Cowboys passing-game coordinator and defensive backs coach, Kris Richard, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
"From what I understand, among the candidates being considered to replace Woods are former Cowboys passing-game coordinator for defense, Kris Richard," Rapoport reported. "Remember, he coached a similar system with the Dallas Cowboys, and certainly, that would add some heft, a little more heft, to this defense."
