49ers activate TE Charlie Woerner from PUP list

The San Francisco 49ers have activated tight end Charlie Woerner from the active/physically-unable-to-perform (PUP) list. He had been recovering from a core muscle injury. The team is preparing for its second preseason game, an August 20 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings. The team announcement came before Sunday's 12:45 p.m. practice. San Francisco made Woerner (6-5, 241) a sixth-round selection (No. 190 overall) out of Georgia in 2020. The San Francisco 49ers have placed tight end Jordan Matthews on season-ending injured reserve, per the NFL's transaction wire. It was revealed that Matthews suffered a torn ACL during Monday's practice. He was later seen on crutches at the team facility. According to Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network, the team also worked out three players.
