NFL Network “live” broadcast will join 49ers-Packers game an hour late

Aug 26, 2016 at 10:53 AM--

NFL Network explained why their "live" broadcast of tonight's Week 3 preseason match-up between the San Francisco 49ers and the Green Bay Packers was listed on their schedule as starting at 8 PM PT and 11 PM ET. Kickoff is at 7 PM PT and 10 PM ET.

Due to broadcast restrictions with the CBS airing of the Cleveland Browns and Tampa Bay Buccaneers game, NFL Network will join the game in progress an hour after kickoff. However, NFL Network does note that the full-game re-airing will occur on Saturday at 1:30 PM PT.

Tonight's game will likely feature the highly publicized first game of the preseason for 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick amid a quarterback competition with Blaine Gabbert. For Packers fans, it will also likely be the only preseason game that quarterback Aaron Rodgers plays in. So to join the game late and possibly miss a big chunk of play by those two quarterbacks is a huge disappointment for fans outside of the Bay Area and Wisconsin home markets.

The game will be televised on KPIX 5 in the Bay Area, NBC 26 in Green Bay, and various other networks throughout Northern California and the Great Lakes region.

ESPN insider Adam Schefter recently shared his insights on the situation surrounding San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk during an appearance on the network's "NFL Live" show. Schefter clarified that while Aiyuk would like to remain with the 49ers, his priority is securing a contract that reflects his value, regardless of the team. When questioned about Aiyuk's desire to stay with the team that selected him in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Schefter responded, "Well, I think his desire to get paid is greater than his desire to stay in San Francisco, wherever that is. If the 49ers want to pay him, I'm sure he'd love to stay in San Francisco. If another team would like to pay him, I'm sure he'd like to go

If the San Francisco 49ers decide to trade wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, it's likely to occur within the next four days—before or during Day 1 of the 2024 NFL Draft. Despite some unconfirmed rumors, there has been no concrete indication that a trade is imminent. Previously, the 49ers had expressed a desire to retain Aiyuk for the foreseeable future. Aiyuk's agent, Ryan Williams, has swiftly refuted rumors, including one alleging that the receiver had requested a trade, claiming that the Pittsburgh Steelers were "aggressively pursuing" the receiver.
