What a night it was for the San Francisco 49ers and their fans. The Bay Area team entered the playoffs as the sixth seed in the NFC. They already knocked off the NFC East champion Dallas Cowboys, and on Saturday, eliminated the top-seeded Green Bay Packers in an upset at Lambeau Field. The 49ers special teams unit, often criticized as the team's weakest link, shined. There was a field goal block by safety Jimmie Ward before halftime. Defensive lineman Jordan Willis blocked a punt in the second half, and safety Talanoa Hufanga scooped up the football and returned it for a game-tying touchdown. Trent Williams missed the regular-season finale against the Los Angeles Rams because of an elbow injury. The San Francisco 49ers tackle intends to be back on the field with his teammates for Sunday's playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys. Williams spoke with reporters after Thursday's practice and provided some details on the injury that forced him to cheer from the sidelines this past weekend. The good news is that Williams is feeling better than he did last week, and that bodes well for his availability on Sunday. "The elbow is doing good," Williams said. Trent Williams looks 'good to go' for 49ers-Cowboys, says insider

Trent Williams returned to practice on Thursday after missing last week's and Wednesday's sessions. The newly named All-Pro offensive lineman was back on the practice field on Friday, with the team scheduled to board a plane for the Dallas area this afternoon. Williams is dealing with an elbow injury that forced him to miss the San Francisco 49ers' regular-season finale against the Los Angeles Rams.
