The 49ers wrapped up their first week of training camp Wednesday in Santa Clara with a practice that consisted heavily of 11-on-11 work with starters and backups getting an equal share of reps. Inside is a number of notable injuries, Greg Roman on Chad Hall and Vernon Davis and Ray McDonald talks about the importance of depth on the defensive front.

As expected, Michigan's Pro Day has a significant NFL presence. The event features 18 draft-eligible players from the national champion's roster. San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan doesn't have to field as many quarterback questions as he did a year ago after Brock Purdy underwent surgery, the arrival of Sam Darnold, and the uncertainty surrounding the future of Trey Lance. The quarterback situation is clearer now than it has been in recent years. For Purdy, this offseason holds significant importance. The San Francisco 49ers likely aren't finished fortifying their defense and have reportedly expressed interest in bolstering their defensive backfield. If they require assistance making a significant move, one 49ers player is prepared to lend a helping hand.
