DeMeco Ryans is starting to put together his coaching staff with the Houston Texans. It's reasonable to understand why he might be interested in some of his former San Francisco 49ers colleagues.
According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, the Texans are requesting permission to interview 49ers offensive passing game coordinator Bobby Slowik about Houston's offensive coordinator job.
Slowik has been part of Kyle Shanahan's staff since 2017, the same year Ryans joined the 49ers. Slowik served as a defensive assistant with Washington before joining the 49ers as a defensive quality control coach. He moved on to become an offensive assistant (2019-20), offensive pass game specialist (2021), and offensive passing game coordinator (2022) under Shanahan.

49ers trade up for offensive lineman in mock draft
The San Francisco 49ers hold the No. 31 overall pick, but speculation abounds that they may seek to move before or during the first round of next week's NFL Draft. Alyssa Barbieri proposes such a scenario in her latest mock draft for USA Today's Touchdown Wire. Barbieri envisions the 49ers trading with the Miami Dolphins to move up 10 spots, selecting former Alabama offensive lineman JC Latham.
