The San Francisco 49ers officially announced that they have signed quarterback
Josh Johnson to a one-year deal. News of the signing was
first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter on Sunday, after the 49ers beat the Miami Dolphins 33-17, following the news that quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a season-ending foot injury.
The 49ers Communications staff provided the following rundown.
Johnson (6-3, 205) was originally drafted in the fifth round (160th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Throughout his career with the Buccaneers (2009-11), Cleveland Browns (2012), Cincinnati Bengals (2013), 49ers (2014, 2020-21), New York Jets (2015, 2021), Indianapolis Colts (2015), Buffalo Bills (2015), Baltimore Ravens (2016, 2021), New York Giants (2017), Houston Texans (2017), Washington Football Team (2018), Detroit Lions (2019) and Denver Broncos (2021), he has appeared in 37 games (nine starts) and completed 205 of 353 pass attempts for 2,270 yards and 13 touchdowns. He's also recorded 76 rushes for 422 yards (5.6 average) and one touchdown on the ground.
In 2021, Johnson spent time with the Jets and the Ravens, where he appeared in four games and completed 57 of 85 attempts for 638 yards, five touchdowns, and a 99.0 quarterback rating. This year, Johnson signed to the Denver Broncos practice squad on August 31, 2022, after spending training camp with the team.
A 36-year-old native of Oakland, CA, Johnson attended the University of San Diego. He owns numerous USD career passing records, including touchdown passes (113), completions (724), attempts (1,065), passing yards (9,699), and efficiency rating (176.7). Additionally, Johnson rushed for 1,864 and 19 touchdowns, finishing his career with 11,563 yards of total offense.

The San Francisco 49ers announced the signing of wide receiver Trent Taylor to a one-year deal, reuniting with the team's former fifth-round draft pick out of Louisiana Tech.
Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area was the first to report that the 49ers were discussing a potential reunion with Taylor. The receiver was part of head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch's first draft class in 2017 and spent his first four NFL seasons with the team.

The San Francisco 49ers are hosting several draft prospects this week as the deadline for pre-draft visits draws near. According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2, the team will host former Western Kentucky wide receiver Malachi Corley on Wednesday.
Corley is expected to be a Day 2 pick. San Francisco owns two selections on Day 2—the No. 63 overall pick in the second round and the No. 94 overall pick in the third round. Currently, the receiver is visiting with the Seattle Seahawks.
