San Francisco 49ers quarterback Trey Lance connected on a deep 76-yard touchdown pass to rookie wide receiver Danny Gray during last week's preseason opener against the Green Bay Packers. It appears the connection was not an anomaly, as Lance and Gray connected again during Wednesday morning's joint practice with the Minnesota Vikings at the TCO Performance Center in Eagan, Minnesota. The rookie wideout was going against Vikings cornerback Patrick Peterson.
Here are three perspectives on the deep touchdown pass from practice. The first shows the throw and catch on the field in the distance at the end of the video.
The second is a better look from Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Here is another angle from Matt Barrows of The Athletic.
After the preseason game against the Packers, Lance shared what he was thinking on the touchdown pass to Gray.
"
Throw it to the fast guy," Lance said. "Danny did a great job. He's done a great job all camp. Just him being healthy, obviously, he's a difference maker for us on offense. His speed is something I've had maybe one other time in my life (Christian Watson at NDSU). So for me, it's a fun guy to have -- a fun guy for the receiver room to have also. Just help the route tree out and make defenses defend the whole field."
The 49ers and Vikings will hold a second joint practice on Thursday. Their preseason matchup is scheduled for Saturday evening at U.S. Bank Stadium.

49ers add pass rusher in new 7-round mock draft
Marcus Mosher of The 33rd Team revealed his latest mock draft, which goes seven rounds deep and projects every selection for every NFL team. While most predict that the San Francisco 49ers will add an offensive lineman with their first selection, No. 31 overall, Mosher has the Bay Area team going in a different direction.
The writer and analyst has the Niners selecting former UCLA pass rusher Laiatu Latu in the first round.
"It wouldn't be a shock to see Laiatu Latu fall in the draft due to his medical history, but he is too good of a value to pass up here at No. 31," Mosher wrote. "The San Francisco 49ers have been searching for the right pass

Watch: 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk undercover as an Applebee's employee
Brandon Aiyuk must really need that new contract. The San Francisco 49ers wide receiver took on an offseason job as an Applebee's employee while awaiting news about his NFL future.
Well, not exactly. It was actually part of the series "Undercover Athlete" from Whistle, promoting the new "Whole Lotta Bacon Burger." Still, it was amusing to see Aiyuk serving customers who couldn't quite place his familiar face at first glance.
