Deebo Samuel responds to Aaron Donald’s comments about 49ers-Rams rivalry

Aug 7, 2022 at 3:08 PM--

Defensive tackle Aaron Donald didn't hide his feelings or mince words after being asked about the Los Angeles Rams' division rivals, the San Francisco 49ers.

"I dislike the Niners. Everybody knows that. I don't like the Niners at all," Donald told NFL Network last week. "They don't like us. It's just the rivals. Every time we play, it's a dog fight, and that's how it is. No love at all towards them guys. I really dislike them, and we'll see them twice this year."

Donald's feelings are understandable. After all, the Niners have gotten the best of his Rams in six consecutive regular-season matchups. However, Los Angeles finally snapped the losing streak, beating San Francisco in the NFC Championship Game and winning the Super Bowl.

Wide receiver Deebo Samuel is no stranger to the 49ers-Rams rivalry. He and Donald throwing shade on one another was a storyline that went viral in 2020. The three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year was asked about Samuel following the Rams' third consecutive loss to the Niners, to which Donald responded, "Who? Who's that?"

Samuel shot back after the comments and then tweeted out the following after the 49ers' fourth consecutive victory.

What does Samuel think about Donald's latest comments about the 49ers?

"Our team don't really feed into all the junk talking," Samuel told Tom Pelissero and Maurice Jones-Drew on NFL Network. "We put the pads on. We go out there and do what we do, even though we fell short one game (last season). But it is what it is. We're not a team to go out in the media and be like, 'Who is this person? What this person do?' We just put the pads on and go to work."

The 49ers and Rams face each other at Levi's Stadium during Week 4 on Monday Night Football and again during Week 8 in Los Angeles.

"It's a big rivalry," Samuel admitted. "That's one of them physical games you know you got to get ready for."

49ers' Kyle Shanahan responds to Jimmy Garoppolo's comments that it feels like 2017 again

By David Bonilla

On Thursday, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was asked about his comments that it felt like 2017 again when he took the field on Sunday, his first time doing so this season. Garoppolo appeared to be pushing the football down the field more than he has since his first season with the team. "I love doing that stuff," Garoppolo said. "In '17, there was a freedom where me, the receivers, tight ends, we had a good chemistry going. And when you get that with offensive skills and a quarterback, it makes for a tough offense." Will that continue for the remainder of the season as he fills in for an injured Trey Lance? "I think we'll see

49ers-Rams rivalry was quickly ingrained in QB Matthew Stafford

Quarterback Matthew Stafford is still relatively new to the Los Angeles Rams. He ended up with the Southern California squad after a trade from the Detroit Lions last year. San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan was interested but was ultimately beat out by Sean McVay and company. While he has only been with the Rams for one full season, Stafford quickly realized he was now entrenched in a long-time rivalry, one that he may have underestimated before landing in Los Angeles. The rivalry was very apparent when 49ers fans took over the Rams' home field, SoFi Stadium, not just once last season but twice. First

Deebo Samuel recorded his first receiving touchdown of the season, and it was impressive. 49ers' Kyle Shanahan evaluates George Kittle's return, defenses taking away the Deebo Samuel factor

George Kittle caught just four passes for 28 yards during his 2022 season debut on Sunday night against the Denver Broncos. The San Francisco 49ers tight end is returning from a groin injury that forced him to miss Weeks 1 and 2. He wasn't much of a factor in the 11-10 loss to Denver, though. Head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke with reporters via a Monday conference call and asked if Kittle is still working his way back into game shape. "Yeah, definitely," Shanahan responded. "You can't underestimate how much, when guys miss time, how hard it is to go out and play a game like that. So yeah, George, he did some good things, but he's not there yet because he hasn't been playing much. It was nice to get him back in practice more last week. It was nice to get him through
