49ers reveal rookie jersey numbers

May 13, 2022 at 11:45 AM--

On Wednesday, we learned the jersey numbers of the San Francisco 49ers' offseason free-agent acquisitions. The jersey numbers for 49ers rookies have been trickling in over the last 24 hours, since first-year players reported to Santa Clara yesterday. The team's three-day rookie minicamp kicks off this afternoon, and the list of rookie jersey numbers has been revealed to reporters.

The three-day minicamp doesn't just include the drafted players. It will also include several signed and unsigned undrafted free agents, with the latter hoping to impress coaches enough to earn a contract.

The rookies will join their new veteran teammates on the practice field when organized team activities kick off on May 23. These offseason program activities so far have been voluntary. The 49ers' only mandatory minicamp will be from June 13-15. That will be the final gathering before training camp at the end of July.

Last week, we found out what numbers many of the San Francisco 49ers rookies would be wearing during the team's three-day rookie minicamp. Those numbers will be sticking around through at least the rest of the offseason program. Obviously, they are subject to change after roster cuts ahead of Week 1. Matt Barrows of The Athletic tweeted out several rookie jersey numbers, including select undrafted free agents. Missing from his tweet, however, was the number of the 49ers' fifth-round draft pick, cornerback Samuel Womack. The team announced that he will wear No. 26, last worn by cornerback Josh Norman. San Francisco 49ers rookie wideout Danny Gray spoke with the media for the first time since his draft interview, as he prepared for the 49ers' rookie minicamp, which is slated to begin on Friday. Gray, who was selected with the last pick in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 105th overall, is a player with electrifying straight-line speed, which was confirmed with his 4.33 40-yard dash at the combine. However, Gray's talents aren't limited to just his speed; he works well with the ball in his hands and can be physical after the catch, despite his relatively slight 186-pound frame. When addressing his skillset, Gray acknowledged the biggest development over his

Why 49ers rookie C Dohnovan West might've gone undrafted

The San Francisco 49ers were considered by many as one of the winners of the undrafted free agent process, signing centers Dohnovan West and Jason Poe alongside a slew of potential contributors to round out their 90-man roster. West, a prospect many in the media believed would be drafted in the mid to late rounds, did not end up hearing his name called, making him one of the most sought-after undrafted free agents of the class. He quickly signed with the 49ers, who reportedly gave him $100,000 in guaranteed money with a $10,000 signing bonus. Why did West go undrafted? Speaking to the media for the first time as a 49er, West dove into the offseason

The San Francisco 49ers' rookie minicamp kicked off Friday afternoon, with the 49ers revealing the rookie jersey numbers prior to media availability. Sixth-round selection Nick Zakelj, who will wear No. 63, spoke with the media on Friday for the first time since draft night and shared a rather interesting fact about his football childhood. Zakelj is a Cleveland native, drawing a connection to Alex Mack, whom the rookie watched while growing up. Mack began his career as a member of the Cleveland Browns, playing from 2009-2015 before stints with the Falcons and the 49ers. "I think definitely watching guys like Alex, especially growing up in Cleveland, being drafted, I
