Nick Bosa is a first-year team captain. He is the only newcomer to the group of six San Francisco 49ers captains, including defensive lineman Arik Armstead, tight end George Kittle, safety Jimmie Ward, linebacker Fred Warner, and tackle Trent Williams. His teammates so respect the 24-year-old pass rusher that head coach Kyle Shanahan tasked him with the honor of giving a speech to the team the day before each game last season. That tradition carried over into 2022. "I just give the Saturday speeches after walk-throughs," Bosa said on Friday. "I was doing that all last year too." The quarterback finished the game 18-of-29 for 211 yards, a touchdown, an interception, and a passer rating of 81.3 in his first start of the season. Yet, the defense accepted the blame for San Francisco's record falling to 1-2 in a game in which they were favored. "We've got to play a full four-quarter game," linebacker Fred Warner said after the 11-10 loss in Denver. "It doesn't matter how dominant we are throughout

Social media dug up an old quote from Kyle Shanahan to create a narrative that the San Francisco 49ers head coach contradicted what he said in 2021 when asked to compare Trey Lance to Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson. "He's not Lamar Jackson," Shanahan said, via ESPN's Ed Werder. "Trey is a quarterback who has the ability to run. But to just line him up and run him, I mean, the game's too physical." Despite injuries at RB, Kyle Shanahan doesn't view rookie QB Trey Lance as solution to create rushing yards. "He's not Lamar Jackson,'' he told me. "Trey is a quarterback who has the ability to run. But to just
