Aaron Donald knows who Deebo Samuel is, and other things the Rams said about the 49ers this week

By Kirk Larrabee
Jan 8

When Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald was asked about stopping wide receiver Deebo Samuel after a loss to the 49ers in 2020, Donald gave an answer that was perceived as disrespect. "Who? Who's that?" Donald said. Donald was asked about Samuel again this week and gave a similar answer, albeit more tongue-in-cheek this time. "Who's that?" Donald said with a laugh. Donald then talked a bit about what to expect from Samuel, who had 97 yards and a touchdown on five catches along with five carries for 36 yards and a touchdown in a 31-10 win over the Rams on November 15. "They move him around everywhere," Donald said. "So he's in the backfield, they do

More than coach and player: 49ers' Kyle Shanahan considers Deebo Samuel a friend

When thinking about Kyle Shanahan and Deebo Samuel, you normally refer to the creative methods that Kyle Shanahan utilizes his star receiver and the playmaking ability of Samuel to execute those play calls. However, there's much more to the relationship between the two than just the electrifying performances on Sundays, which Kyle Shanahan alluded to in his daily presser Wednesday. Deebo Samuel has always been an animated and vibrant individual, most notably through his energy on the field and leading up to games on Sundays, so it's no surprise that the head coach and receiver are able to easily connect on a daily basis. "[We talk about anything]," Shanahan stated. "Deebo's a real easy guy to talk to. He's not doing much on special teams during

49ers' Trent Williams and Deebo Samuel named to 2021 NFL All-Pro Team

By David Bonilla

Two San Francisco 49ers players were named to their first NFL All-Pro team. One is third-year wide receiver Deebo Samuel, one of the most dynamic players in the game. The second is the team's nine-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle, Trent Williams. Both were first-team selections. Until now, Williams, a first-round draft pick in 2010, has gone his entire career without being named to an All-Pro team, which may be difficult to believe. On Thursday, a reporter asked the veteran tackle what it would mean to finally be named an All-Pro. "I think it would feel good, finally," Williams responded. "It sucks because I can't let it define my career because I've never made it. If I felt like that's what I needed to define my career, then anything I've done up to

49ers' Deebo Samuel doesn't seem interested in conversing with Rams' Aaron Donald anytime soon

By Kirk Larrabee
Jan 6

Deebo Samuel hasn't always gotten much respect from Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald, so it's not surprising he doesn't seem too eager to get to know Donald in person at some point. Donald was asked how to stop Samuel after a loss to the 49ers in 2020, to which he replied, "Who? Who's that?" Samuel responded on the field last season with 17 catches for 199 receiving yards and a touchdown in two wins over the Rams, then took a shot back at Donald via social media after the second of those two wins. With the Rams on the schedule this weekend, Samuel was asked by reporters after practice
