If Trey Lance has to start at quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers this week in their pressure-packed showdown against the Los Angeles Rams, he'll at least have a good idea what he's getting into, along with a little more improvement under his belt since his previous start. Lance's status for Sunday's game in Los Angeles (4:25 p.m. ET/1:25 p.m. PT, FOX) remains up in the air due to the lingering uncertainty surrounding Jimmy Garoppolo, who was sidelined in favor of Lance against the Houston Texans last week due to a thumb injury. Last Sunday, San Francisco received not one, not two, but three 90-yard performances from wide receivers—Brandon Aiyuk, who led the team with six catches for 107 yards, Deebo Samuel, who had four catches for 95 yards, and Jauan Jennings, who had six catches for 94 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-tying TD late in the 4th quarter. Interestingly enough, it's the first time in franchise history that the feat of three 90+ yard performances from receivers has occurred in the same game, per Matt Barrows of the

The 49ers' mastery over the Los Angeles Rams continued on Sunday, and this time it earned them a spot in the playoffs. The 49ers needed a win over the Rams or a loss by the New Orleans Saints to the Atlanta Falcons in order to advance to the playoffs as a Wild Card. It didn't look promising early in the game,
