The San Francisco 49ers entered the Wild Card matchup against the Dallas Cowboys without linebacker Marcell Harris (Achilles), safety Talanoa Hufanga (knee), and defensive lineman Maurice Hurst (calf). 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan provided status updates for a number of players after practice on Friday, including quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo—but he still stopped short of naming him the starter for this weekend's game against the Los Angeles Rams (Sunday, 4:25 p.m. ET/1:25 p.m. PT, FOX). Shanahan stuck to his stance of not announcing a starter between Garoppolo and rookie Trey Lance in order to give Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris more to think about, but he was clearly encouraged with what he saw from Garoppolo at practice throughout the week after missing last Sunday's start against the Houston Texans with a thumb injury. The San Francisco 49ers entered Week 18's matchup against the Los Angeles Rams missing some key players. The team was without tackle Trent Williams (elbow), cornerback K'Waun Williams, and linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair (knee). All three were among the 49ers' six inactive players. San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan jumped on a conference call with reporters on Monday, one day after his team's thrilling playoff-clinching 27-24 overtime road win over the Los Angeles Rams. He provided several injury updates. Trent Williams, tackle Williams did not play on Sunday. He was inactive due to an elbow injury. Shanahan says Williams will be doing everything he can to play against the Cowboys. However, the coach didn't sound optimistic that his starting left tackle would practice on Wednesday.
