49ers put an end to Jalen Hurd’s injury-marred tenure

When the 49ers drafted Jalen Hurd in 2019, head coach Kyle Shanahan was asked if the former college running back could eventually play tight end for the team. As it turns out, Hurd didn't play, at all, for the 49ers who waived him Thursday.

All three were among the team's seven inactive players. Below are the 49ers-Cowboys in-game injury updates. DE Jordan Willis Willis left the field slowly close to the end of the first half. The 49ers announced him as "questionable" to return due to an ankle injury. Update: Willis returned to the game. DE Nick Bosa Bosa remained down the field near the end of the first half

'I just don't want this to end anytime soon': Jimmy Garoppolo's final chapter with 49ers isn't over yet

Earlier this season, Jimmy Garoppolo didn't want to close the door on a possible return to the San Francisco 49ers in 2022. Most believe the team will unload the veteran quarterback and his hefty salary and transition to the No. 3 overall pick in last year's draft, Trey Lance. "Honestly, with the possibilities, I try not to close any doors too early," Garoppolo said in November. "It's one of those situations, you've just got to let it play out, I think. We've got a lot going on with the season and everything right now. If you start thinking about those other things, you just get distracted, I think. Shanahan stuck to his stance of not announcing a starter between Garoppolo and rookie Trey Lance in order to give Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris more to think about, but he was clearly encouraged with what he saw from Garoppolo at practice throughout the week after missing last Sunday's start against the Houston Texans with a thumb injury. "He had a good week—a good week of practice when he was in there. I feel good with where he's at right now," Shanahan

The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their Week 18 contest against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was limited for his third consecutive practice. He is working hard to start Sunday's game, despite dealing with a serious thumb injury. Garoppolo is listed as "questionable." "He had a good week," head coach Kyle Shanahan said. "Yeah, a good week of practice when he was in there. I feel good with where he is at right now." Tackle Trent Williams did not practice at all this week. He suffered an elbow injury during Week 17's win against the Houston Texans. Williams is also listed as "questionable." "No, Trent didn't practice," Shanahan said. "He's still rehabbing his
