San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke with reporters this afternoon and provided some injury updates from this weekend's game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Quarterback Trey Lance suffered a left knee sprain during the game, but the injury is not expected to be a long-term issue. However, it could impact the rookie's availability for the game against the Indianapolis Colts after the bye week. Lance might miss one or two weeks.

"We'll re-evaluate him at the end of the week to determine his status for next week," Shanahan said. "We really won't know whether he's got a chance versus Indy until next week, but he's got a chance. It's possibly one or two weeks. We'll have to wait and see."

Neither Shanahan nor Lance knows when the injury occurred. The quarterback already had an MRI on his knee, which ruled out the possibility of a long-term setback.

"He said he didn't remember doing it any time and didn't feel it until he was in bed last night," Shanahan said. "... He'll have to stay here in the bye week, get treatment and everything, so we should have a good idea by the end of next week whether he's got a chance for Indy or not. But if he doesn't, they told me it should be a one- to two-week thing, but possibly just one."

That leaves practice-squad player Nate Sudfeld as the 49ers' lone healthy quarterback.

Added Shanahan: "I was messing with Trey there, and Jimmy, that now Jimmy's got some company. So, they'll be here, both of them, the whole week so they have the best chance to be ready for Monday when we all get back."

Linebacker Marcell Harris also sustained an injury at some point during Sunday's game.

"Marcell Harris had a right-thumb fracture somewhere in the game; not sure where," Shanahan said. "He's going to have surgery tomorrow. He'll be good to go after the bye week, but we'll have more details after the surgery."

Help after the bye

The good news is that Shanahan and the 49ers hope to get some reinforcements soon.

"When we come back from the bye week, we're hoping to have Jimmy, we're hoping to have K'Waun [Williams], and we think we've got a possible chance at [JaMycal] Hasty," Shanahan said. "[Dre] Greenlaw, outside change. It will probably be another week or two after that. That's about it. ... No updates on [Jalen] Hurd. Jeff Wilson, the same deal. We're hoping for late November on Jeff Wilson."

Shanahan did not have an update on safety Tarvarius Moore (PUP, Achilles).

San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw is currently rehabilitating after undergoing surgery for the torn Achilles he sustained last month during Super Bowl 58. He'll have a partner in his recovery, as he wasn't the only member of the team to suffer that specific injury. Head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke to reporters on Tuesday morning at the NFL owners meetings and revealed that defensive backs coach Daniel Bullocks also sustained a torn Achilles during the game. "[It occurred] about five minutes after Dre's," Shanahan told reporters. "I think it was when [S] Ji'Ayir [Brown] got the interception, he just jumped up and cheered, very similar to Dre's, and his Achilles went too." Bullocks remained on the sideline and continued coaching throughout the

The San Francisco 49ers likely aren't finished fortifying their defense and have reportedly expressed interest in bolstering their defensive backfield. If they require assistance making a significant move, one 49ers player is prepared to lend a helping hand. Last week, the Buffalo Bills released All-Pro cornerback Tre'Davious White, who appears to be an ideal fit for San Francisco's needs opposite Charvarius Ward. Over the weekend, Ward took to social media to reveal that he and White share the same agent and that he is willing to nudge the free-agent defensive back in the right direction. Ward described White as a "hand in glove
