The San Francisco 49ers fell to 2-3 after suffering their third consecutive loss of the season, a 17-10 defeat on the road against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 5.

Today, Pro Football Focus released its grades from the game. Which Niners played well, and who has more work to do?

Below are Pro Football Focus' five highest-graded 49ers players on offense against the Cardinals.

Quick Takeaways

You may be wondering how Trey Lance graded out in his first NFL start. The rookie quarterback earned a respectable overall grade of 66.3 through his 65 snaps. For those curious, that's a higher grade than Jimmy Garoppolo earned in three of his four starts this season.

Tackle Trent Williams' 77.1 overall grade is his lowest of the season. Yet, he has still earned at least a top-three offensive grade among 49ers players in each of his five games, earning the highest grade this past weekend.

The highest overall grade in the game (49ers or Cardinals players) belongs to defensive lineman Arik Armstead. His 89.2 grade is by far his highest single-game grade of the season. Right behind him is Nick Bosa, who, aside from a dip in Week 2, has consistently impressed Pro Football Focus graders.

Earning the lowest grade of the game (49ers or Cardinals) was cornerback Josh Norman, who returned after missing a game due to a lung contusion. He was targeted seven times and gave up four receptions for 46 yards and a touchdown. Quarterback Kyler Murray owned a 116.7 passer rating while targeting Norman.

This past weekend's game marks just the second time this season that wide receiver Deebo Samuel (66.9) missed ranking among the 49ers' five highest-graded offensive players.

By David Bonilla
Mar 22

The San Francisco 49ers have primarily focused on bolstering their defense in free agency. This has included a significant overhaul of the team's defensive front, with notable departures such as Arik Armstead, Chase Young, and Clelin Ferrell. However, the 49ers managed to reinforce their defensive line with key signings, including Leonard Floyd, Yetur Gross-Matos, and Jordan Elliott. Additionally, they traded for Maliek Collins to help along the interior. Pro Football Focus recently analyzed the pros and cons of each team's free-agent acquisitions, indicating that San Francisco isn't expected to take a step back when it comes to rushing the passer. PFF mock draft has 49ers finding potential replacement for Colton McKivitz

By David Bonilla
Mar 23

Pro Football Focus' Trevor Sikkema unveiled his latest mock draft this week and has the San Francisco 49ers addressing the offensive line. Specifically, Sikkema suggests the team seeks a potential replacement for Colton McKivitz at right tackle. In Sikkema's projection, the Niners select former Georgia offensive lineman Amarius Mims with the No. 31 overall pick. The analyst views him as an ideal addition to an offensive front that was untouched in free agency—apart from ensuring continuity among last season's starters. "Mims has one of the craziest builds you will have ever seen — in a good way

Latest PFF mock draft has 49ers making surprise pick in Round 1

The San Francisco 49ers focused on defense in free agency but still have several needs heading into the 2024 NFL Draft. The team did not address the offensive line, and it's a safe bet they will do so with some rookie selections next month. The Niners could also continue bolstering things on the defensive side of the football. Adding to the defensive back, defensive line, or linebacker groups remains possibilities. Pro Football Focus analyst Brad Spielberger released his latest mock draft and doesn't have the 49ers drafting at any of those positions. Instead, he has the team adding a bit of an insurance policy on offense, drafting former Georgia wide receiver

Mar 19

Offensive lineman Jon Feliciano and linebacker Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles recently re-signed with the San Francisco 49ers on one-year deals. OverTheCap.com has revealed the contract information for both deals. Feliciano signed a contract that includes the minimum base salary for a player with eight accrued seasons of experience—$1.21 million. Flannigan-Fowles' base salary is slightly higher, at about $1.77 million. Feliciano is scheduled to count about $2.28 million against the 2024 salary cap, while Flannigan-Fowles is slated to consume almost $1.3 million. The linebacker's reduced impact is due to the 49ers using a portion of up to $1.45 million of salary that won't count against the salary cap for veteran players. The 49ers are paying Feliciano a
