49ers’ game review: Where did Bosa go? Garoppolo’s elite ability? Was Shanahan distracted?

Sep 28, 2021 at 3:00 PM--

In the 49ers' loss to the Packers, Green Bay figured out a plan for Nick Bosa, Jimmy Garoppolo showed he is an elite flat-footed flicker (with some warts), Kyle Shanahan might have been distracted on 4th-and-1, the NFL's highest-paid offensive linemen is human and Alex Mack can still move.

Packers praise 49ers WR Deebo Samuel: 'One of the more elite players in this league'

By Kirk Larrabee

There's something significantly different about San Francisco 49ers on offense this week compared to where they were when they played the Green Bay Packers in Week 3 of the regular season. That difference is the role of wide receiver Deebo Samuel, whose emergence as a running back throughout the course of the season makes the 49ers more difficult to stop than they were when they fell 30-28 to the Packers at Levi's Stadium on September 26. Samuel had two carries for zero yards in that game, giving him a total of four carries for eight yards over his first three games. He had six total carries over his first nine games before exploding over the second half of the season to finish with 59 carries for 365 yards and eight touchdowns to go with his receiving stats of

On Thursday, San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel took to social media to defend his quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo, from critics. Garoppolo is one of the last four starting quarterbacks still preparing to play a game. This weekend, his Niners will travel to Southern California to face the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship Game. Many within the media have created the narrative that the talented 49ers have carried Garoppolo to this point, that the team is winning despite Garoppolo and not because of him. Samuel told Garoppolo's critics to check the only statistic he cares about—wins and

Defensive end Nick Bosa remains in the concussion protocol, and being cleared will be a challenge due to the short week of preparation. The good news is that he returned to practice on Wednesday. Although, he was listed as a "limited" participant. Bosa was on the field with his teammates for the pre-practice walkthrough but headed to the locker room before practice started. Excellent sign as

49ers' Kyle Shanahan shocked by Nick Bosa All-Pro snub

Two San Francisco 49ers players—tackle Trent Williams and wide receiver Deebo Samuel—were named to the 2021 NFL All-Pro Team. Noticeably absent from the new list of All-Pros was defensive end Nick Bosa, who finished behind T.J. Watt, Myles Garrett, Robert Quinn, and Maxx Crosby in the voting. At least one person inside the 49ers organization felt the third-year pass rusher was snubbed. "I definitely think Bosa should be there; there's no doubt about that," head coach Kyle Shanahan said on Friday. "I'm shocked that—I don't think people appreciate how good Bosa is, play-in and play-out. I've heard people talk about him for Comeback Player of the Year, and every time they say that, I can't believe he hasn't been mentioned in Defensive Player of the
