The San Francisco 49ers are preparing for their second consecutive road game—a Week 2 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. After spending the week in West Virginia, the Niners look to begin the season 2-0 for the second time in three seasons. San Francisco has a 19-14-1 overall record against the Eagles, as the teams have split each of the past four meetings. The 49ers seek their first win in Philadelphia since earning a 24-23 victory in 2011.

San Francisco is coming off a 41-33 victory over the Detroit Lions. The team's 41 points scored were the third-most by the team in a season opener and the most on the road. The Niners' offense was led by quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who finished the game 17-of-25 passing for 314 yards, one touchdown, and a passer rating of 124.2.

Wide receiver Deebo Samuel registered nine receptions for a career-high 189 yards and one touchdown in Detroit. Making his NFL debut, rookie running back Elijah Mitchell registered 19 carries for 104 yards and one touchdown. Running back JaMycal Hasty also added a three-yard touchdown run, while wide receiver Trent Sherfield caught a five-yard touchdown pass from rookie quarterback Trey Lance on his first career pass.

The 49ers' defense brought down Lions quarterback Jared Goff three times. Defensive linemen Nick Bosa, Dee Ford, and Kentavius Street each registered a sack. Linebacker Dre Greenlaw intercepted Goff and returned the pass 39 yards for a touchdown. The interception was the second of his career and the first interception returned for a touchdown by the 49ers since defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw had a 27-yard interception returned for a touchdown at the Los Angeles Rams last season, also coming off Goff.
