The San Francisco 49ers were holding onto a commanding 41-17 lead against the Detroit Lions when starting cornerback Jason Verrett went down with an injury. The veteran was grasping at his right knee.

Verrett was able to walk off the field on his own. However, he stopped short of the sideline before grabbing at the knee again and being assisted by the team's training staff.

Verrett left for the locker room after the game resumed but had trouble getting there on his own. He appeared to be tearing up before two trainers came to his assistance to help him get to the locker room. He eventually had to be taken the remainder of the way on a cart and general manager John Lynch was seen with the cornerback, per multiple reports.

Verrett has been plagued with injuries during his NFL career. He has landed on injured reserve in five of his seven NFL seasons but stayed healthy in 2020. The loss would be a devastating blow for the 49ers defense if Verrett has to miss significant time.

Update: According to the following report, Verrett suffered a torn ACL, ending his season.

Mia O'Brien, a reporter for Jacksonville radio station 1010XL, was the first to link San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk to the Jacksonville Jaguars last week. A new report from O'Brien sheds light on the asking price for the star wide receiver, who is entering his fifth-year option. According to O'Brien, the 49ers sought the No. 17 overall pick, plus wide receiver Zay Jones, in exchange for Aiyuk. However, it seems this asking price was deemed too high for the Jaguars, who would have had to part ways with these assets and commit significant money to Aiyuk in the form of a contract

The San Francisco 49ers likely aren't finished fortifying their defense and have reportedly expressed interest in bolstering their defensive backfield. If they require assistance making a significant move, one 49ers player is prepared to lend a helping hand. Over the weekend, Ward took to social media to reveal that he and White share the same agent and that he is willing to nudge the free-agent defensive back in the right direction. Ward described White as a "hand in glove
