Last week, Madden released its annual ratings for the top players at every position, which, like always, came with a barrage of controversy and angry fans.

Trey Lance's rating was among those releases and he earned a 74 overall, behind the likes of Trevor Lawrence and Zach Wilson, who went with the two picks ahead of him in the 2021 draft, respectively.

Lawrence earned a 78, while Wilson earned a 75. Justin Fields, who was drafted by the Chicago Bears, earned a 74, tying Trey Lance for the third-highest ranking among rookie quarterbacks, while Mac Jones of the Patriots came in fifth, earning a 71 overall.

Interestingly, the rookie quarterback ratings came in the same order that these players were drafted this offseason. Lawrence went first, Wilson second, Lance third, Fields fourth, and Jones fifth.

Looking at the rest of the field, surprisingly, Lawrence was rated higher than last year's No. 1 overall pick, Joe Burrow, who earned a 77.

In addition, 49ers starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo wound up with a 76 overall, just two points higher than Lance and below Lawrence as well.

With a 74, Lance is ranked higher than Saints quarterback Jameis Winston, Broncos quarterbacks Teddy Bridgewater and Drew Lock, Colts quarterback Carson Wentz, Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, and more.

Lance's most featured intangible is his speed and that showed in the Madden ratings, as he earned the 10th highest rating for quarterbacks with an 87, below only Justin Fields in the rookie class, who was third with a 90 speed rating.

Lance was also ranked sixth in acceleration at a 90, 14th in agility at an 87, and 11th in carrying at a 68.

Last year, the quarterback ratings for rookies weren't as high, speaking on the belief that this class is a stronger class than the prior class.

Burrow led the way with a 76 overall, while Tagovailoa earned a 73, Packers quarterback Jordan Love earned a 71, Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert earned a 70 and Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts earned a 68 to round out the top five.

Compared to last class, Lance would've ranked second amongst that group.

Do you agree with Lance's rating as a rookie quarterback? Should it be higher? Lower? Let us know.

The Jacksonville Jaguars were reportedly interested in trading for star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. However, the San Francisco 49ers' asking price of the No. 17 overall pick plus a player was seemingly too high for the team. Now, it appears another AFC team might be trying to pry Aiyuk away from the West Coast. Andrew Fillipponi of Pittsburgh-area radio station 93.7 The Fan reports that the Steelers are looking to work out a deal with the 49ers for the receiver. "Sources: The Steelers have looked into 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk," Fillipponi wrote on social media. "He's entering the last year of his contract. Steelers would have to execute a sign and trade.
