Trey Lance received four snaps against the Detroit Lions on Sunday. It wasn't a whole lot of experience for the San Francisco 49ers' developing rookie quarterback, but it was better than nothing—a point that head coach Kyle Shanahan made yesterday. "I think getting a guy any playing time when he's the number two quarterback helps his development more than getting no playing time," Shanahan responded when questioned about whether or not the limited opportunities hurt Lance's development. Seahawks the only NFC West team to lose a game after two weeks of play

The NFC West is on a roll, which isn't necessarily great news for the San Francisco 49ers when it comes to the success of their division rivals. Through two weeks of NFL play this season, the NFC West is 7-1 as a whole. That, of course, includes the 49ers' Week 2 17-11 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. The Seattle Seahawks became the first NFC West to lose a game, falling to the Tennessee Titans 33-30 in Week 2. The Los Angeles Rams beat the Indianapolis Colts 27-24 and the Arizona Cardinals edged the Minnesota Vikings 34-33. 49ers punter Mitch Wishnowsky named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week

Congratulations to San Francisco 49ers punter Mitch Wishnowsky. He has been named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week. Wishnowsky punted five times for 226 yards in the 49ers' 17-11 Week 2 victory over Philadelphia Eagles. That's an average of 45.2 yards per punt. The San Francisco 49ers were the first team on the scoreboard at Ford Field after rookie quarterback Trey Lance tossed a five-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Trent Sherfield in the first quarter. The scoring drive that twice featured Lance coming In for veteran Jimmy Garoppolo resulted in the 49ers taking an early 7-0 lead over the home-team Detroit Lions.
