John Lynch confirms 49ers called Packers about Aaron Rodgers

There is some drama going on in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Packers' quarterback, Aaron Rodgers, doesn't want to play there anymore. There was a report that the situation led to the San Francisco 49ers calling to inquire about the reigning league MVP.
While speaking with reporters shortly after selecting quarterback Trey Lance with the No. 3 overall pick, general manager John Lynch confirmed that to be true.
"You're talking about the MVP of our league last year," Lynch said. "I don't know about you guys, but to me, when the MVP of the league might be available, and I didn't know that -- I'm just reading the tea leaves just like everybody else and saying, 'Hold on, is something going on here? -- yeah, we inquired."
The report also stated that no formal offer was made for Rodgers. That's because the 49ers never had an opportunity to get that far into the conversation. The Packers quickly told the team the nine-time Pro Bowl quarterback and three-time league MVP wasn't available.
"And it was a quick end to the conversation," Lynch continued. "It wasn't happening. As we've said, we've been convicted and excited (about Lance) for a long, long time, so we went right back to where we've been, and that's really excited about adding Trey Lance to the 49ers. And we're thrilled about that."
Now, the 49ers move forward with Jimmy Garoppolo as the slated starter and Lance as his future successor.
