49ers check on Ronald Blair, visit with D-lineman

The San Francisco 49ers recently hosted defensive end Ronald Blair for a visit. The team released him on March 12. The 28-year-old defensive lineman has spent each of his five NFL seasons with the Niners. Although, he did not play in 2020.
The 49ers made Blair a fifth-round selection out of Appalachian State in 2016. He last played during the 2019 season when he recorded 21 tackles, three sacks, seven tackles for a loss, and three quarterback hits through nine game appearances. That campaign came to an end when Blair suffered an ACL injury in Week 10.
The defender spent all of last season on the physically-unable-to-perform list.
"[He's a] guy who's helped us a ton,"
head coach Kyle Shanahan said of Blair in December. "I know a lot of people in this league think fairly highly of him, and I know he can play football if his knee's right, and that's something I hope he has better luck with here in this offseason."
It sounds like San Francisco may be monitoring Blair's recovery and is not eliminating the possibility of a return. The defensive lineman has recorded 88 tackles, 13.5 sacks, and a forced fumble through his first four NFL seasons.

49ers hosting Arizona WR Jacob Cowing on pre-draft visit
The San Francisco 49ers are welcoming former Arizona wide receiver Jacob Cowing for a pre-draft visit as NFL teams finalize their evaluations ahead of the draft deadline. News of the visit comes from Aaron Wilson of KPRC2 in Houston.
During his 2023 senior season, Cowing registered 90 receptions for 848 yards and 13 touchdowns in 13 games, per Sports Reference. His best statistical season came in 2021 at UTEP, when he amassed a career-high 1,354 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, averaging an impressive 19.6 yards per catch. Cowing followed that up with a 1,034-yard, seven-touchdown campaign in 2022 after transferring to Arizona.
