Running back Frank Gore said at the end of the regular season that he wasn't sure whether he would return for a 17th year in the NFL, but it seems there's at least one thing that would make up his mind for him. Gore was a guest on 95.7 The Game Friday and was asked [more]

John Lynch says Frank Gore loves 49ers' Deebo Samuel as a running back

On Wednesday morning, San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch joined KNBR. A former NFL running back and 49ers fan favorite, Frank Gore, was with Lynch in team CEO Jed York's suite this past Sunday during the team's 30-10 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. He remains close with the York family and continues to be a big fan of his former organization. Gore was treated to watching a 79-yard, one-touchdown rushing performance from Deebo Samuel — a wide receiver. That came on just eight attempts, meaning the receiver averaged nearly 10 yards per carry. Gore believes Samuel is so impressive that the third-year wideout is good enough to be a great running back. "He loves Deebo as a running back," Lynch said. "He probably feels that if we

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel has been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week following his performance in Week 10 against the Los Angeles Rams. The 49ers beat the Rams 31-10 at Levi's Stadium. Samuel totaled five receptions and 133 scrimmage yards (97 receiving, career-high 36 rushing) with two touchdowns (one receiving, one rushing) against the Rams. It was his first career game with both a receiving and rushing touchdown. This is the second Offensive Player of the Week award for Samuel, with the first coming in Week 8 of this season. He joins Pro Football Hall of Famer Jerry Rice (1990, 1992 and 1994) as the only 49ers wide receivers to earn

49ers-Jaguars: Deebo Samuel credits this player for his leap as a receiver, expects to play Sunday

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel is dealing with a shin contusion and has been limited during practice this week. That probably won't keep him out of Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, though. "I'll be ready for Sunday," Samuel said after practice. "We're just taking our time. Just had a shin contusion, so just taking it slow, but we'll be ready." That's good news for the Niners. Samuel is the team's leading receiver, and his 979 receiving yards rank second among all NFL receivers this season. After struggling through injuries last season, the wideout has made a significant leap in his third year. Many, including Samuel, credit one player's influence for that leap as an offensive weapon. Samuel doesn't typically give long

49ers-Jaguars: Kyle Shanahan 'holding out hope' that Elijah Mitchell could play, discusses Jeff Wilson, Trey Sermon

By David Bonilla

San Francisco 49ers rookie running back Elijah Mitchell is officially listed as "doubtful" for Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Head coach Kyle Shanahan is still hoping that the rookie could play, but the odds are against him. Mitchell suffered a finger fracture during Monday night's win over the Los Angeles Rams. The next day, he underwent a procedure to repair the damage. As a result, Mitchell has not practiced at all this week. The coach had hoped the team's leading rusher would get some work in during the three practices, but that never happened. "It's just how he feels with it," Shanahan explained. "And we thought it would be a little further along now. But obviously, it isn't. That's why he couldn't go today. We're holding out hope because
