The NFL revealed its complete 272-game 2021 regular-season schedule on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. PT. The San Francisco 49ers open the season with back-to-back road games against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field and then the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field. The team will hold its home opener, likely its first game with fans since January 19, 2020, during Week 3 against the Green Bay Packers. San Francisco 49ers CEO Jed York recently told NBC Sports Bay Area that there is no rush to get rookie quarterback Trey Lance, the No. 3 overall pick in this year's draft, onto the football field. That's why the team held onto Jimmy Garoppolo, who has two years remaining on his contract. York didn't guarantee that Garoppolo would play out that contract in its entirety with the 49ers.
