Why Bleacher Report lists 49ers among teams destined to disappoint in 2021

Following an injury-plagued 2020 campaign, many fans are hopeful things are looking up for the San Francisco 49ers. After all, the team was in the Super Bowl just over a year ago. The Niners limped through 2020 without names like Jimmy Garoppolo, Nick Bosa, George Kittle, and many others for much of the season. San Francisco suffered an absurd amount of injuries, which clearly contributed to its 6-10 record. The 2021 season will be better, right? Chris Roling of Bleacher Report and The Bengals Wire doesn't believe so. He lists the 49ers among his five NFL teams that are destined to disappoint during the upcoming season. Why San

No. 10 Should Be Under Center for the 49ers in 2021

Where there is smoke, there is fire, and there has been a ton of smoke coming out of Santa Clara concerning the 49ers, their quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, and the future of the two together. Don't get me wrong, the most likely scenario for who starts under center for the 49ers in 2021 is Jimmy Garoppolo, but GM John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan have made it clear that they are open to upgrading the position and moving on from Jimmy G. If the 49ers do move on from Garoppolo, they shouldn't look to mortgage the future by trading a haul of picks to move up into the top 10 or even top 5 for a quarterback. They should pick No. 10 from Alabama, quarterback Mac Jones, if he falls to the twelfth pick in the 2021 NFL draft. Mac Jones is rapidly moving up the boards

The Sports Business Journal is reporting that the NFL is getting close to finalizing its new media deals for the rights to broadcast or stream future games. Things could cross the finish line as early as this week and then be announced next week—possibly earlier. It sounds like Fox will retain the rights to NFC games on Sundays, but there has reportedly been some pushback from the network on the asking price—over $2.2 billion per year for 11 years—which doubles that of the previous deal. As reported earlier, Amazon Prime Video looks poised to secure the exclusive rights to simulcast Thursday Night Football on its streaming platform,

49ers projected to land two offensive stars in Draft Network seven-round mock

By Kirk Larrabee

Mock drafts are a dime a dozen this time of year, and most of them wind up projecting something unexciting that has already been projected several times before. But every once in a while, a mock draft comes along that is interesting enough to single out and discuss on its own, like this one from Ryan Fowler of The Draft Network. Fowler put together a complete seven-round mock for the 49ers using The Draft Network's endlessly entertaining Mock Draft Machine and came up with an intriguing list of players that includes two of college football's biggest offensive stars over the past two seasons. The first is quarterback Justin Fields of Ohio State, whom Fowler has going to the 49ers in Round 1. The second
